A checklist for comparing white-label tracking platforms.
| Question | Why ask it | Our answer |
|---|---|---|
| Is the server mine alone? | Shared platforms mix resellers' data and let one reseller's load affect the others. | Yes: a server, database and set of tracker ports per brand. |
| What exactly sets the price? | Charges per user or per client grow in ways a device count does not. | Devices only. Users, clients and drivers are unlimited. |
| Is there a setup fee or a share of my revenue? | Both cut into your margin for as long as you stay. | Neither. |
| Will my exact tracker model work? | A protocol mismatch tends to surface after the stock is bought. | 4,800 types over 269 protocols. Send us the model to confirm. |
| Can I see what a unit is sending? | Without the raw data, faults turn into guesswork and support tickets. | A connection log with raw data by IMEI, and a list of unregistered units. |
| Is the phone app a store app or a web app? | Store apps need developer accounts and reviews; web apps install from a link. | A web app that installs from the browser, under your name. |
| Can the API write, and are webhooks signed? | A read-only API or unsigned webhooks limit what you can safely build. | Read and write API with scoped keys; HMAC-signed webhooks with retries. |
| Can I bill my clients from the platform? | Separate billing software means retyping device counts each month. | Invoices, monthly auto-billing per device, quotes and statements. |
| Which cameras work, and is there live view? | Video support differs between platforms far more than tracking does. | JT/T 808 and 1078 cameras and Teltonika DualCam, live on cameras that stream. |
| Who handles certificates, updates and backups? | Self-hosted software leaves this to you, usually at a bad moment. | We do, within the plan price. |
| How long am I committed for? | An annual contract makes a poor fit expensive. | Month to month, and the first payment is refundable for 30 days. |
| What happens to my data if I leave? | Some vendors hold data back or charge to release it. | Ask before your last paid month ends and we export it. |
| Can I bring my devices and their history? | Refitting a fleet costs money, and lost history annoys clients. | Import tools for supported platforms; elsewhere, units are repointed in batches. |
Where we may not fit.
Better to know now than after a month of setup.
No app store listing
The Fleet app is a web app. If your clients expect to find you in an app store, this platform does not provide that.
No AI features
There is no AI assistant and no prediction model. Scores and alerts come from rules you can read and change.
Dollar prices, rand charges
Plans are priced in US dollars, while PayFast takes the card payment in South African rand, so the amount on your statement moves with the exchange rate.
No hardware from us
We do not sell trackers, SIM cards or fitting. Those come from suppliers in your market.
How to run a fair trial.
Four weeks, one task each. Real units and real clients tell you more than any demo account.
- Week 1
Connect real units
Fit two or three of the models you mean to sell and confirm their data, including ignition, fuel or CAN values if you depend on them.
- Week 2
Test the client's view
Create a client account, sign in as that client on a phone and a laptop, and install the Fleet app.
- Week 3
Work the rules
Set up the alerts your clients will want and check that they arrive on each channel at the right time.
- Week 4
Try the integrations
Make a read-only API key, pull a report, and point a webhook at a test endpoint to check signatures and retries.
Finish inside 30 days and, if the platform falls short, the first payment comes back in full. The refund policy has the details.
Comparison questions
Why does a dedicated server matter?
On a shared platform another reseller's load or outage can reach your clients, and your data sits beside theirs. A server of your own keeps the ports, the database and the address yours, and makes leaving simpler.
What should I test in the first month?
Fit two or three of the units you plan to sell, run the reports your clients will ask for, send a webhook to a test endpoint and open the Fleet app on a phone.
Is there a minimum term?
No. You pay monthly and can stop at any point; once cancelled, nothing more is charged and the server runs until the paid month ends.
Check the details
Put it on your own server and try it.
Order online and your server is normally live the next day, with your domain and logo in place and the tracker ports open.
